Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - ATD Program
The Fall 2019 EMT classes are now FULL.

The next EMT classes will begin in January 2020.

By October 31, 2019, all information and forms for the January 2020 classes will be available on this website.


Program Change:
The EMT program is offered through Hillsborough County Public Schools.  The EMT program, previously operated under Learey Technical College, will now be operated under Aparicio-Levy Technical College.  Nothing will change except the title of the College operating the program.  

Program Description:
Using interactive education (including classroom presentations, skills practice, and actual patient contact at area hospitals and local ambulance services), students learn how to provide pre-hospital basic life support for people who are sick or injured.

Length of the Program:
300 clock hours (about 5 months)

Class Schedule:
Three classes (of 24 students each) are offered each semester (July - December, and January - June)
The Night class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm
The Monday/Wednesday class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Tuesday/Thursday class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

$1,775.00  (Prices may change for the January 2020 class)

Licensure/Certification/Other:
To become Florida & NREMT certified Emergency Medical Technicians, graduates must pass the National Registry of EMTs exam.  Graduates enrolling in a Paramedic program at any Florida Community/State College receive 11 college transfer credits for completing this EMT program.

Employment/Career Opportunities:
Career opportunities include:  Emergency Medical Technician for Ambulance Services, and Emergency Department Tech for Hospitals.

Salaries:
The national range for EMTs is $9.48 to $24.70 per hour.
